At the ratification meeting I attended there was one point mentioned by our president as to why we couldn't bargain for a lot (bigger raises, etc.), and it was that the market is not what it was back during the last negotiations. Is this actual fact, or is he just trying to give reasons for a lack luster bargaining round?
For one, Suncor came out with earnings recently. I tried comparing them to years ago but tsx.com only when back to the beginning of 2009. Anyone know what were the net earnings for Suncor back in, what was it 2007?
Basically I just want to know how good, or probably, how bad the bargaining committee is doing this year?
Are there other unions that we can compare to? I hate just hearing rumours, "Oh yea, they over there, they got bigger raises, bla bla bla".
